The National Schools Food & Fibre Education Strategy has now been released, presenting a coordinated national approach to strengthening food and fibre education in Australian schools. Developed with input from more than 900 stakeholders, the Strategy sets a vision for students and educators to be informed and empowered to support a sustainable, thriving food and fibre sector.
The Strategy focuses on three national priorities:
- Strengthening school–industry connections
- Providing targeted support for educators
- Securing government backing for curriculum development and infrastructure
A joint initiative of all 15 Rural Research & Development Corporations, the Strategy responds to growing disconnect between Australians and modern food and fibre systems, and outlines a staged role for schools, industry and governments in addressing this knowledge gap.
Educators and associations play an important role in its implementation, and we encourage schools to explore and share the Strategy within their communities.
