These awards recognise teachers' contributions to the education of students in:
- Junior primary (R–2)
- Primary (3–6)
- Middle years (7–9)
- Senior secondary (10–12)
Awardees must be a SASTA member and must:
- Describe how their continued participation in professional development activities in science as a facilitator and/or participant has made an impact on their students and/or school communities.
- Give examples of how they promote student interest in science by providing an environment that stimulates student curiosity and interest in science.
- Provide evidence of developing and/or using innovative instructional material or technologies or new approaches to teaching science to achieve greater engagement or better outcomes.
- Demonstrate evidence of modelling best science teaching practice or mentoring other teachers within the school/work site with regard to best practice science teaching.
