Bush Blitz TeachLive is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Australian teachers (Years 4–12) to step into the shoes of a scientist! This fully funded professional development experience places teachers alongside real researchers on a biodiversity expedition, helping to document plant and animal species in remote areas.

As a TeachLive participant, you will:

  • Work as a research assistant, assisting scientists with data collection and species identification
  • Gain hands-on field research skills to bring back to your classroom
  • Engage your students in real-time, posting updates on social media and video-calling your class live from the field
  • Connect with fellow educators and scientists, expanding your STEM teaching network

Who can apply?

  • Current Australian primary or secondary school teachers (Years 4–12)
  • Teachers who have not previously participated in Bush Blitz TeachLive
  • Passionate educators eager to bring biodiversity and conservation into their teaching—no prior field experience required!

This program is run by Earthwatch Australia, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to connecting people with science to create positive environmental change. Bush Blitz is Australia’s largest nature discovery project, helping scientists document biodiversity in remote locations.
