Theme: Decoding the Universe – Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Language

The Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) has released its 2025 National Science Week Schools Resource Book, developed to support this year’s theme: “Decoding the Universe – Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Language.”

This beautifully designed digital resource offers a wide range of cross-curricular activities aimed at helping students explore the science behind natural patterns, codes, signals and systems—from DNA and animal communication to weather patterns and astronomical observation.

What’s Included:

  • Resource Book of Ideas: A collection of classroom-ready STEM activities suited to all year levels
  • Student Journal: A printable tool for older students to record their thinking, problem-solving, and learning outcomes
  • Poster: A colourful visual resource to help promote and engage your class or school in this year’s theme

These resources are freely available to all Australian schools and are ideal for use during National Science Week (10–18 August 2025) or as part of your science program throughout the year.
