Little Scientists Early STEM Education Awards

Little Scientists is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our 4th Little Scientists Early STEM Education Awards, Australia’s only dedicated awards to celebrate STEM excellence in early childhood education. Our biennial awards proudly recognise the early childhood educators and early primary teachers driving STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths — education for children aged 0-7 years across Australia.

Little Scientists Early STEM Education Awards has two categories:

Category 1. Excellence in Early STEM Education Award recognises early learning services & early primary classrooms.

Category 2. Outstanding Early STEM Education Leader Award recognises early childhood educators & early primary teachers.

The theme of the 2024 awards is “Overcoming gender bias in early STEM education" and calls on educators and teachers to share how they are promoting gender inclusivity and overcoming gender stereotypes that hold young girls back in STEM education. This is because studies show that by the age of six, girls' participation in STEM education is already negatively impacted by gender stereotypes. You'd be well aware that this lack of inclusion has life-long consequences, with women currently making up only 15% of the STEM workforce in Australia.
