The “Did you know?” boxes are connected stories, concepts, perspectives or interesting biological processes or facts to help you engage students in deeper learning. They might give you the teacher ideas for how to extend student understanding, potential challenge or deconstruct questions or different perspectives to engage students in meaningful discussion. The “SHE Alert” boxes can be found throughout the book and are connected to the 4 SHE Key concepts. These boxes are there to guide students and teachers to opportunities to consider how science and society interact to overcome problems, find new alternatives and improve human lives. At the end of each chapter, a list of possible Deconstruct and Design ideas are included which could be used by the teacher to develop tasks. There are also review questions through the book and a set of SHE short answer questions for students to attempt.
